Well here goes nothing! As of yesterday I am at 203 pounds, 23lbs from my goal. This is going to be interesting to say the least, since we’re starting this adventure before one of the biggest eating days of the year. Luckily, having done it before I know it can be done.
When I first dropped under 200 lbs back in late 2008 I vowed never to get back over 200, so this 203 weight is absolutely unacceptable to me. Self control is NOT difficult, but you have to be motivated to use it and I just wasn’t motivated for a good chunk of 2010. Now I am.
My plan for dropping off this 20+ lbs that I aim to lose is simple, burn more than I eat. I’m going to be building back up my mileage on my runs, while monitoring my eating. The general consensus is that you need to burn 3500 calories more than you consume to lose 1 pound , and that healthily you can only burn 2 pounds of fat per week (WebMD), so I’ll be shooting for an aproximate calorie deficit of 7000 calories each week. To facilitate an accurate calorie count I’m using Spark, because they have an awesome database of food, and a great Android App for entering my calories eaten and calories burned. Should be easy as taking candy from a baby!
Okay, maybe it’ll be easier than taking candy from a baby.
