Opening Night!

Opening Night!  The culmination of weeks ( sometimes months) of hard work. I’m always excited to open a show, but I’m ecstatic to get The Last Days of Judas Iscariot in front of an audience. I can’t wait to see the way they react to the emotional rollercoaster we’re putting them on. They are going to cry, then laugh, then think, then laugh, then cry and more.

Time to start getting ready! As they say in France “merde!”

Yay Washington State! Boo Bigotry!

Just sharing a bit of important info for my fellow Washington State residents.

If you support gay marriage rights,Do not sign any Gay Marraige related Referendum or Initiative!

1) Do not sign Referendum 74.

If R74 fails to get enough signatures, then the legislation as signed by the Governor will become law. However, if R74 does get enough signatures, then there will be a statewide vote as a part of the November ballot to see if the legislation can become law.

In addition, do not sign Initiative 1192.

I-1192 attempts to define marriage as being between one man and one woman. So shut that shit down.

Part 2:

Unfortunately, it is very likely that enough signatures will be gathered, and Referendum 74 (and proably I-1192 as well) will end up on the ballot. This is the tricky part though; because of the way the Referendum is worded, proponents of gay marriage must vote YES on R74.

In Addition:

I-1192 is not worded in that way, so proponents of gay marriage must vote NO on I-1192.

In Short:

If you support gay marriage:

Don’t sign Referendum 74 or Initiative 1192

But if they make it to the ballot:

VOTE YES on Referendum 74

And VOTE NO on Initiative 1192
Reference: Washington voters may have to vote ‘yes’ and ‘no’ on gay marriage

Friday Funnies 6/3/2011: Badly Translated TV

I’m starting a new series here on my blog… It’s the Friday Funnies!  Every time we hit the day where “Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday” and  “Tomorrow is Saturday/And Sunday comes after … wards ” I’m going to post something that makes me giggle.  (Sorry for the traumatizing use of the horror that is Rebecca Black, I just couldn’t resist) Today’s laugh comes after the break.

The Race Is On!

There’s a new post up at my blog on my fitness/athletic endeavors Aspiration, Inspiration, Respiration! Check it out an find out the crazy challenge I’ve put in front of my self, and subscribe to the blog via RSS to get consistent updates!

Beginnings are funny things…

(This is a re-posting of the first post over on my new fitness related blog Aspiration, Inspiration, Respiration Perspiration! )

Here goes nothing!… I’m making a new start at getting back in shape, eating healthy and taking care of my body after about 12 months of varying levels of mistreatment.   I’ve paid lip-service to staying/getting back in shape for 9 months or so, but I never really got back on the horse, and I think I know why.  Details are after the break. Brittany the Vampire Slayer??

Britney The Vampire Slayer
So the internet rumor mill is abuzz with the idea the Heather Morris (Glee‘s Brittany) is in the running to play the titualar character in the Joss Whedon-less Buffy the Vampire Slayerreboot.  Is this good, bad or inspired casting?  My first reaction was “Bad Idea! This is not going to lead to hugs and puppies!” But the more I think about it, the more I think this could actually wind up being inspired casting if it goes through. Here’s a few reasons why:   Continue reading

Tis the Season… for Terror!!!

So, the last few years I’ve had an idea for a Don LaFontaine style (“In A World…”) trailer for a highly violent Christmas movie. In the spirit of doing things and not just talking about doing them, I present the (very) rough cut of the trailer audio for Wes Craven’s Santa Claus (Claws?)

I’d love to actually make a trailer project out of it, but I don’t know where to start with video editing currently. If you do know where to start, and want to help me get this done, leave a comment here or on the link on Facebook. Regardless, I would love any feedback I can get, good, bad, or “Oh my God, why did you create this abomination!” Also, If you’re a disturbed individual and want to have you’re very own copy of the audio I’ve included a link below the break.

Gay Marriage: A Matter of Social Justice

Recently I haven’t been much of a good Catholic, until this weekend I hadn’t been to mass in well over a month. As usual the Gospel and the homily were totally relevant to things on my mind. Last week I posted my feelings on gay marriage and said essentially that the churches need to realize that civil marriage and Sacramental marriage are 2 distinct things that share a name, and they should stay out of the Prop 8 fight. I was wrong to say that. The homily reminded me of a key part of Catholic teaching that says to me that the Church and its members should be in the battle, but on the opposite side from where the majority of them have been standing. Wondering About Recaps; or I’m Liking Summer on Syfy

So… I’m trying to decide if doing TV recaps for shows that interest me is worth the time. I’m worried that once I do one,  my inner armchair critic will go overboard because I tend to analyze my entertainment a lot. Now usually I turn off that analysis in the summer because summer TV tends to be formulaic and fluffy, but this year’s summer TV shows are really impressing me with effective layered storytelling. I’ve been especially surprised and impressed by the direction SyFy is taking with Eureka and Warehouse 13. Continue reading
